Other Marauders

Below are some photos of other previously built Marauders.

Here's another Marauder from fellow members of Melburg Luft

I got this email from Jon and Jenny Cook:

Hi Paul,

It was great to stumble across your sight this evening. I was trying to find a photo of what a Marauder looked like whilst talking to a friend about cars we had owned previously. I found your site, and there it is my actual car. It is featured in the second part of your gallery. The yellow one with rego CHI 310. So great to see it again.

I purchased it from a guy in Bacchus Marsh sometime in the early 90's. I was living in St Albans at the time and there was another Marauder (red from memory) owner only a couple of kilometres away.

The previous owner told me it was a factory built car. However I never found out if that was the case (pre Google days).

In the photos, the car looks much like it did when I owned it except for the indicators, I think they were different, flush with the bodywork maybe.

When I bought it it had a rotary engine in it. A combination of 10A and 12A rotary parts. I had a new extended port 13B rotary built to go in it (which at the time was eye watering key expensive) and it went like a rocket (I think it had Holley carbs).

We did a few interstate trips in the car and I used it as a daily driver for a while. Sadly the engine popped at the end of an interstate trip. I'm sure the fact that I was doing 170klm an hour at the time had nothing to do with it. At some stage I got rear ending by a truck in it. Mostly fibreglass damage. The repairer said that the chassis and rear set up of the vehicle was well built and strong. It cost the insurance company $7000 (a huge amount 30 years ago and took 7 weeks to repair. I'm glad they chose not to write it off for whatever reason).

I think from memory I dropped the original motor back in before selling it. I did see it a number of years later and the owner had put Ferarri badges on it. Something I vowed I would never do. Until tonight I have not clapped eyes on it since.

Many thanks. Jon
